Oscillot® is a system that is designed to keep pet cats safely and effectively contained to their. Cats use a jump-grab-climb action to scale fences, Oscillot® is designed to counteract this technique. The system itself consists of a series of four-bladed aluminium paddles, which are mounted along fence lines between end posts containing bearings. When a cat tries to jump and scale the fence, they place a paw on the paddle, which then spins; the cat cannot get traction and falls safely back to the ground.
Oscillot® is fast-becoming the most popular choice for cat owners to contain their feline family members because:
- it is designed for DIY installation
- there are no wires, cages, netting, or electric shocks
- it is very unobtrusive and blends aesthetically with your yard
- it is 100% Australian made and owned from high quality materials
- if you move house, you can uninstall and take it with you
- it prevents vet bills that can arise as a result of letting your cat roam the neighborhood e.g dog attacks, being hit by a car, cat fights, infectious diseases

When purchasing on this website, Oscillot® is available in two different colors: Slate Grey and Merino.
No. The Paddles are guaranteed to not spin in the wind due to one of the four blades being weighted preventing such an occurrence, even during gale force winds.
We cannot recommend using Oscillot® to stop dogs from scaling fences because at this stage, there is no evidence as to effectiveness in keeping dogs contained nor has the required testing been carried out.
In saying that, we have sold to a number of (very frustrated) customers who have installed for their naughty jumping doggies and had great success. We have had excellent feedback that it has stopped doggies from getting over fences, from border collie’s through to staffies and boxers.
When installing for dogs we recommend cutting the paddles in half so that they are only 1 metre lengths as this is more reliable in hold the weight of the dog.

We do not promote Oscillot® as an effective method to prevent raccoons/ squirrels/ rodents / or any animal for the matter from a walking along fence lines. Although Oscillot® may help to deter them from walking on fence lines, it isn't guaranteed or recommended by us. Oscillot® won't stop these little critters from entering or exiting yards either as they will generally find another way using trees, roofs, pergolas, sheds etc.
Oscillot® is made from several components including the Paddle, Post Kit and Bracket (Bracket is an optional extra). The Paddles are made from high quality extruded aluminium that is then powdercoated to its final color. The Post Kit is made from long lasting, hardwearing acetal plastic that is designed to withstand outdoor weather extremes. The Bracket is made from stainless steel that is then powdercoated in a black color finish.
We don't promote Oscillot® to keep cats out as such. Whilst having Oscillot® installed around the perimeter of your yard can certainly help to deter neighbouring and stray cats from entering your property, it is not fool-proof. Cats may still find a way to enter using trees, sheds, garages etc. in the neighbouring yards to get up and over the system and into your yard. They may then become trapped in your yard and not be able to get back out again with Oscillot in place.
We recommend that Oscillot® be installed on fences at a minimum height of 6 feet. This is the height at which the system has been tested and demonstrated to be effective.
Although you may not be legally obliged, we do recommend that you obtain permission from your neighbour if you plan to install Oscillot® on top of a shared fence. You can check with your local council if you are not sure.
If you are in Australia your local Mr. Handyman U.S. or Mr. Handyman Canada should be able to help. Our comprehensive DIY Installation Guide and Installation Guide Video contain everything they need to know.
Oscillot® is available in various pre-sized Kits. Each paddle is 4 feet long. The Paddles can be cut down to size as required. See our Installation Guide for information about cutting Paddles to size.
Check out the How to Measure Your Yard Guide to for advice on measuring up for Oscillot®.
Generally, you do not need Local Council approval to install Oscillot® on top of your fence however, as regulations vary from state to state, we recommend that you contact your Local Council before installation.
Balcony / balustrade fences generally are not suitable because the minimum recommended fence height for installation of Oscillot® is 6 feet. Balcony balustrade are generally between 3 and 5 feet, which is too low and Oscillot® will likely not be effective when installed at such a height. The risk is heightened when installing Oscillot® against our recommendations in an apartment or unit that is several stories off the ground, because the cat may jump up, causing the paddles to spin, the cat will become off balance and the Paddles rolling may cause the cat to fall out of the balcony, rather than back in, resulting in a long fall to the ground.
You need 1 x Bracket for every Post Kit in your order. Brackets are used as an extension of the Post Kit when fixed to the fence.
Normally order take 3-7 business days to deliver. However, large orders may be delayed in customs for inspection.
Although Oscillot® is suitable for installation on many types of fences such as steel, galvanised, timber and masonry fencing, it is generally not effective on tubular and wrought iron fences where spacing between the vertical bars allows an easy escape for a cat. It is also not suitable on fences less than 6 feet in height. Your fence will need to be in relatively good condition for Oscillot® to be installed.
Oscillot® is a safe and effective way to prevent your cat from scaling your fence if installed correctly on suitable fence types. However, installing the Oscillot® System alone will not always prevent your cat from escaping your yard. You need to take in to account the variables that may be present in your yard such as trees and hot water systems next to the fence, gaps under the fence etc.
Oscillot® mounted around the perimeter of your yard can only be effective at containing your cats if you have identified and corrected by other means, any gaps that cats may use to escape your yard. Your cats may also be using outbuildings, trees or house roofs to exit your yard. Make sure your cats cannot dig/crawl under fences or barriers. Block off any spaces between fences and buildings where your cat may squeeze through. Remove items such as garbage bins, building materials, barbecues etc. near the fence line that may assist your cat to scale fences, walls or barriers. You should remove shrubbery, bushes and trees and tree branches near fences that your cat may use to escape. Install tree guards around trunks of trees with branches that overhang fences and buildings.
